What this check is
The two resources that decide the first impression are the headline font and the hero image. Preloading them removes the round trip that otherwise delays the largest contentful paint.
How to implement it
Add preload links for the font file actually used above the fold and for the hero image at its rendered size, with crossorigin on the font where required. Serve one font weight and avoid loading alternate weights you do not display.
How to verify it
Check the network waterfall: the font and hero image requests must start in the first round trip, and the largest contentful paint should be the hero element without a late render swap.
